A smaller start to meal planning
Three dinners.
One shorter list.
You don’t need to map out every meal. Check what’s in your kitchen, choose three dinners you know you’ll enjoy, then shop for what’s missing.

01 / Before you pick meals
Let your kitchen make
the first decision.
Take a quick look through the fridge, freezer and cupboard. Start with ingredients you already have, especially anything you intend to use first.
A main ingredient
Chicken in the freezer? A can of chickpeas? Let something you already own become the starting point for a dinner.
A vegetable or two
Fresh broccoli, frozen peas or a pepper in the fridge. Choose meals that make room for them.
A familiar base
Rice, potatoes or pasta. Check the amount left before adding another pack to your list.
Use ingredients that are suitable for you and safe to eat. Follow the food’s storage instructions; this is a planning guide, not food-storage advice.

Need it. Have it.
Buy the difference.
Read the ingredients for your chosen meals. Write the amount needed, check what you already have, then put only the missing amount on your shopping list.
| Ingredient | Need | At home | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chickpeas | 2 cans | 1 can | 1 can |
One can is already in the cupboard. Only the second can goes on the list.
Use the can size your recipe calls for. Repeat the check for every ingredient; this example covers chickpeas only.
